The Mystery Group #1

One spring day several years ago, I was exploring the area beyond the end of the trail which the boulderers refer to as “The Great Unknown” when I first saw this group some distance away below me. It looked like an excellent place for bears to den, so I decided to wait for a season when they would be less likely to be home before venturing closer. It was a couple more years before that opportunity came. I would catch glimpses of the group occasionally, but the time or the timing was not good for one reason or another, so the group remained a mystery to me; and, even now, having been there a number of times, it retains a mysterious aura. There are four very large boulders (three visible here) and several smaller ones. The largest rival in size anything in the more “developed” areas along the trail.
