The River in a Different Light, #4 (Competition)

I was a few miles downstream from the location of the previous photo. There is an old logging bridge just off the highway at a sharp bend in the river. It's a popular place with fishermen and photographers. There is a gate at the far end of the bridge to keep trespassers out. I was standing on the bridge with the V-Lux on a tripod, waiting for the sun to come out from behind a cloud, when a man and woman on an atv stopped at the near end of the bridge with the clear intention of crossing. I picked up my gear and got out of the way, exchanging a few words with the man about wanting to get the right light. He unlocked the gate; and, before driving across, he said to me: "We're just gonna have a little picnic. As long as the gate is open, you're welcome to take pictures. There's a good spot about a hundred yards in." A lucky encounter. This is the result.
