The Little River begins at Muskrat Pond just east of Benson Mines in the Town of Clifton, in southern St. Lawrence County, NY, and flows in a great loop south and west and north around Star Lake to empty into the Oswegatchie River just north of the hamlet of Lower Oswegatchie in the St. Lawrence County Town of Fine. It is crossed twice by NYS Route 3, the Olympic Scenic Byway.
